[mood |curiouscurious]

Hi..my name is Shajarah and I'm an 18 year-old Sufi of the Mevlevi tradition (followers of Mevlana Jelaluddin Rumi).

Allow me to apologize for posting here, since I do not live in Nashville, but live in New Jersey. I'm always interested in finding people that have broad interests, especially in Sufism, which I treasure. I stumbled upon your community of...two members, and began to look through your interests. I noticed that you list many, many different spiritual traditions such as Protestantism and Buddhism ranging to members of the occult. What stood out to me, though, is that you have chosen not to include Islam or Muslims on the list. Was this an accident? I am hoping that it was, since your community happens to be so accepting to everyone else. So why not your Muslim brothers and sisters?

Erm...:tugs at collar:

You clearly state in the first entry here that you are accepting towards all people. Sorry for being an ass. ;)

But, do you think it would be possible to add Islam or something to the interests? I understand that there are so many traditions in the world that it would be hard to give mention to them all...but Islam is the fastest growing 'religion'. :) Sorry again, and keep up that good unity work!

Hey all! Sorry for not listing those and I will do that immediately! I was trying to ink all the words from my brain in one sitting that would incorporate or at least link to the majors and minors of the religious spectrum. As I listed Sufi, I ignorantly assumed that at the time that would cover. But as you see, I am only human, so my apologies and as I said, I'll add those now. If there are any others you feel that I have forgotten, please let me know and I'll add them. Oh, and even if you aren't Nashville residents, I hope you will join the community and post as you see fit and add concerns that you have.

I went to Egypt this summer, and was lucky enough to see a dervish show. It was at the Citadel, under the stars in downtown Cairo and it was one of the most moving experiences of my life. I loved it.

Beannachtai.I study all religions as time allows, but I am not religious at all,but spiritual. The religious studies so I can have something in common with fellow humans so as to bring us closer together, and help us understand each other(peace-keeper),but I find religion ultimately a practice of ignorance.People like the talk, but not the walk. For instance,in my 43 years,I've only met 4 REAL christians who practice the tenets.Religion doesn't work, there's been
no change in 1000's of years, except the death-counts.Time for a change. But what? I'm currently searching for the next step in evolution to spiritual practises that doesn't recognize god-name or skin colour.
